Learning about babies
We have been learning all about babies for the last couple of weeks. We had a creche in the play corner where we took care of the babies.
We had a slide show of baby photos from the whole class (and the teachers) and we had to guess who was who.
We made a timeline of our lives from 2020-2025 showing our growth from newborns to babies to toddlers to pre-schoolers to junior infants.
Finn's baby sister Isla came into school for a visit. We asked her mam Sorcha lots of questions about baby Isla.

Long and Short, Heavy and Light
In maths this week we are learning about measures: Long and Short, Heavy and Light.
We learned that to compare the length of two things you must start at the same baseline.
We learned that big things can sometimes be light and small things can sometimes be heavy.

Fun activities
There are lots of opportunities to learn through play in Junior Infants. Here are a few.
We enjoy painting and learning to mix up our own colours.
During playtime, each table has a chance to play with a different thing each day: sand, creative art box, playroom, play corner, lego, blocks, doll's house.
Maths activities
Before we start learning about number, we are focusing on matching and sorting activities. We sorted clothes first by colour and then by item.
We sorted random boxes of toys into different sets like: red things, blue things, dinosaurs, teddies, squares, circles etc
Having fun in the playground
One of Junior Infants' favourite places is the playground. They are building their core strength and bravery by learning to climb and balance.
