Junior Infants, Killygarry NS, Cavan
Our pirate theme was a big hit last week. We were digging for buried treasure in the sand box, drawing maps, sailing on the pirate ship, cooking pirate food in the galley and searching for hidden treasure in the classroom!
We have been focusing on kindness for the past few weeks. Every time someone did an act of kindness we put a heart on the kindness tree. When we reached 100 acts of kindness we had a small party!
On January 23rd the whole school participated in a "marathon" around the school yard. Each child ran between 1 and 3 laps of the yard so that the total distance ran was equal to a marathon. We raised lots of money for the school and thank you to everyone who participated.
Can you believe we got a message from the Big Man himself?
Thank you to the two boys who brought in artefacts from home to show the class.
The first is a horse shoe which looks very old. We know it is old because it is very rusty.
The second is a radio alarm clock from the 1990's. People used these before they had mobile phones to wake them up!
If any other child wants to bring in an artefact from home, they are very welcome to do so. They should be able to tell us what it is and roughly how old it is.
We have been learning all about 3-D and 2-D shapes in school in the last couple of weeks. Here are some of the activities we have been doing:
SHAPE WALK
Junior infants have won a prize in the Cavan Tidy Towns Autumn Table competition.
We won a lovely box of Lego and some gardening tools.
