We dressed up in our PJs on our last day and had hot chocolate and toast! We made over €500 for St Vincent de Paul.

Accelerated Reader
We are slowly bringing in Accelerated Reader for First Class. All children will be on it by Easter.
It is a software programme that allows us to test your child's reading level and then help them to pick books that are suitable to that level.
After they read each book, they log on to their own personal Accelerated Reader account and complete a reading quiz, which checks their comprehension of the book.
You can check their progress by logging in to
https://ukhosted92.renlearn.co.uk/6648402/homeconnect
Login using your child's username and password (provided to you on a sheet or written in their yellow reading record)
If you want to check the level of any given book (at the library or book shop) go to www.arbookfind.co.uk
Those two links can also be found in the side-bar of this blog.
The Magical Christmas Grotto
We are very lucky in Killygarry School, as our secretary Bernie made a fabulous Christmas Grotto in the GP room for us to enjoy with our friends.
Christmas painting
We had a very quiet day at school on Wednesday because of the electricity cut in the morning, so we decided to paint the windows for Christmas!
Meet Cheeky the Elf
This friendly little fellow showed up in our classroom at the beginning of December. His name is Cheeky and we enjoy seeing him every day at school!
Rope-making workshop
A lady called Steffi Otto from Heritage in Schools came into our school and showed us how people made rope in the olden days. We made 3 skipping ropes for our class and we also played some games using homemade ropes. We really enjoyed it.

Drama
We are doing a drama based on the book "Ladybird on a Bicycle". Here is a picture of us making a giant map of the ladybird's journey from the Ladybird Tree to the spider's web, to the grassy field, to the brim of a girl's hat, to the field of flowers, to the back of a cow, to a cabbage field, into a lady's basket and then back home.
Thank you for the shoe boxes
Thank you to everyone who filled up a shoebox full of lovely things for a girl or boy in a far away place who may not get a lot of presents this Christmas. They are now on their way across the sea to reach the children in time for Christmas!

Conkers
We had fun playing conkers at school. Thank you to Miss Wynne's Fourth class for lending us their conkers.
