Thank you very much to everyone who brought in food donations and selection boxes for the needy this Christmas. We put them under the tree, because they are like a christmas present to the poor.

Oral Language Presentations on Our Families
We had an entertaining afternoon on Friday, listening to all the stories about our families. Some people told funny stories about themselves and their families. Others did a presentation all about their families. Here's a snapshot of James's impressive presentation:
Something Fishy
The Irish Fisheries Board came to our school and gave us a very interesting talk about the fish in the lakes and rivers of Ireland. We also got to have a close-up look at some of the creatures who live in our waterways.

Trees
We have been learning about trees in Science.
Find out what trees are growing in your garden at home. Are they native trees?
Here is the trunk of a large tree which was felled in the teachers' car park today. Mrs Prior is running a competition to find out how old the tree is. Can you count the rings? Leave a comment here wiht your answer.

January in Junior Infants
During the month of January we have been very busy here in Junior Infants having fun and learning all about the farm, what jobs a farmer has to do and how he looks after his animals. We have also been pretending to be 'Farmers' and 'Vets' in the role play area, making sure all of the toy animals in our classroom are feeling okay. We built our very own farm sheds using blocks and lego and we even made some farm machinery using mobilo. Have a look!
