Thank you for the shoe boxes

Thank you to all the kind and generous pupils and parents who brought in shoe boxes for Team Hope this week. They were collected today and are on their way to needy boys and girls in other countries who may not get any presents for Christmas.

Halloween in Junior Infants

To get ready for Halloween we had some BairĂn Breac (Barm Brack). It is a fruity bread that Irish people traditionally eat at Halloween. There is a ring hidden inside and whoever finds it has good luck!

Here are some spooky Halloween black cats that we made:

No children showed up to school today at all. Just these weird and wonderful characters!

We had a fun Halloween party where we played some traditional Halloween games.
Here is SNAP APPLE:

Here's THE FLOUR AND THE GRAPE game:

Here's the DUCKING

And here's the BLIND MAN's BUFF:

A few playtime pics

Here are a few photos from playtime.

Pumpkin Soup

We read the story Pumpkin Soup and then we made our own soup. The children decided what to put in it and brought in the ingredients. There was broccoli, potato, onion, pepper, tomato, squash, carrot, stock cubes and cream. It turned out very nice....mmmm

All about Autumn

The past couple of weeks we have been learning all about Autumn. We learned about squirrels, autumn leaves, conkers, oak trees, acorns, berries and nuts.

We went on an Autumn walk and we saw a horse chestnut tree, lots of crunchy autumn leaves and lots of haws and rosehips.

We collected lots of Autumn things and made a lovely Autumn mandala.
